1

The Importance of the Client

An IT professional must position themselves as a service entity, with their primary goal being proper client care. They should show respect for the client and understand that the only distinction is their expertise and skill in developing IT solutions. IT professionals should avoid making flattering comments to gain benefits or disparaging remarks that could harm the client’s image.

2

Professional Responsibility

The IT professional will express their opinion on the tasks assigned, adhering to the guidelines set forth in this code and following the professional standards issued by the organization that apply to the work. They must clearly outline the scope of their services and their limitations. If, during their work, the professional encounters a situation that prevents them from continuing as originally planned, they must promptly inform their client of this circumstance. They should remain objective and impartial in their opinions or judgments, always seeking to benefit their clients.

3

Respect for Colleagues and the Profession

Every IT professional should maintain positive relationships with collaborators, colleagues, and institutions, aiming to elevate the profession by fostering teamwork and a collaborative spirit. They must build their reputation on honesty, integrity, loyalty, respect, diligence, and professional competence, adhering to the highest ethical standards and avoiding self-promotion or profit-driven advertising.

IT professionals should seek membership in a professional organization with a respected Code of Ethics and ensure its enforcement. If no such organizations exist in their area, they should promote the establishment of one and the adoption of a relevant code of ethics.

4

Professional Specialization

An IT professional should focus on a specific area of computing, information technology, or computational systems, and stay at the forefront of knowledge in their field of particular interest.
